Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP or CF) - $3,000 Sign-On Bonus!!

Department: Cole Pediatric Therapy - Houston
Location: Humble, TX

Schedule: Must be able to work until 7 or 8 pm three nights per week

(Willing to consider H1B Visa candidates. Candidates from Puerto Rico are also encouraged to apply)

The Speech Language Pathologist provides comprehensive diagnostic services to patients referred for a possible speech, language, hearing, and/or swallowing disorder in the facility or approved home care setting. With physician referral and approval, treatment plans are implemented to address communication barriers and enable each individual to reach his or her maximum level of independence.

 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

 

The following is a summary of major essential functions of the Speech Language Pathologist. Other duties may be performed as permitted by Texas laws and regulations adopted by the state agencies that are not mentioned here. Specific functions may, from time to time, change. These functions include:

 Team Responsibility:

Treat fellow therapists, clients and administrative staff with respect and politeness. Be punctual; follow established dress code policies and all other Cole Pediatric Therapy policies and procedures.

 Essential Functions:

1.      Performs comprehensive evaluations of referred clients using standardized testing tools, non-standardized testing tools and diagnostic probes/tools. Documents results in format approved by facility.

 2.      Provides speech therapy for all types of articulation, speech, language, hearing, voice, fluency and feeding and swallowing disorders in a variety of methods including group and one on one.

3.      Completes all documentation required for each patient (daily documentation, discharge summaries, re-evaluations, etc on time, within the specified time period.

 4.      Works closely with and assists with training ancillary providers such as interpreters, developmental specialists or other employees/contractors that would otherwise serve as an adjunct to therapy.

 5.      Comunicates with physicians, appropriate members of staff, patient and family members regarding patient needs and progress, either by documentation or, if necessary, direct contact.

 6.      Meets productivity expectations.

 7.      Supplies billing information to appropriate staff, in a proper and timely manner for all patient procedures

8.      Participates in and attends rehabilitation team conferences and clinic staff meetings as scheduled.

9.      Will perform supervision responsibilities after two years or earlier if deemed competent in completing supervisory tasks. Provides supervision for and co-signs documentation for staff Speech Language Assistants when applicable.

 10.  Observes patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines.

 11.  Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment. Request orders of needed supplies and equipment in a timely manner to avoid emergency ordering.

 12.  Keeps informed of changes and innovation in the field through professional contacts, literature, and workshops.

 13.  Continually pursue professional growth and act as a Resource for expertise in the Speech field.

 14.  Assume personal responsibility for professional development and continuing education.

 15.  Provide education and counseling to patients and their families that will reinforce the therapy provided in the clinic or in the off-site setting.

 16.  Provide education related to Speech Therapy to staff and the general public upon request.

 17.  Either attends and actively participates in or obtains an excused absence and arranges for make up for all mandatory meetings and in services.

 18.  Suggests and develops new patient programs and ideas for treatment as appropriate.

 19.  Demonstrate skills of effective time management.

 20.  Demonstrate positive interpersonal communications skills while maintaining standards of professional ethics.

 21.  Be familiar with home health agency policies and procedures, as well as intake procedures. Protects patient rights as defined by the patient Bill of Rights.

 Other Responsibilities

 1.      Carry out any other projects assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation.

 Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Speech program holding a Masterís degree.
  • Successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year
  • Current Texaslicense to practice Speech Language Pathology by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language  Pathology and Audiology
  • Must be competent to treat pediatrics and adolescents
  • Must have CPR certification for all ages
  • Computer skills-Microsoft Word preferred

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to follow written procedures and verbal directives.

  • Must be able to use a computer and have access to e-mail.
  • Must have adequate hearing and speech to effectively direct and re-direct the therapy program.
  • Mobility to work with young clients.

 

Additional Requirements for Employment

All Speech-Language Pathologists must obtain 30 continuing education hours every 3 years to maintain their Texas State Licensure. Two of the 30 CEU hours must be Ethics CEUs.
